About FairWork Foundation

Dignity Must Define Every Workplace

FairWork Foundation works from a simple belief that earning a livelihood should never require a person to surrender dignity, safety or basic rights. Our work is rooted in the everyday realities of workers and families whose lives are shaped by insecure employment, limited social protection and unequal access to opportunity. Over more than two decades, our journey has grown from an earlier focus as the Child Labour Elimination Resource Network into a wider commitment to labour rights.

Worker Dignity Comes First

We place dignity, rights and social protection at the centre of our work, helping vulnerable workers.

Evidence Shapes Meaningful Action

Our research, advocacy and community engagement connect real experiences with informed action.

What Guides Us

Evidence Must Lead To Action

The principles that shape our work with workers, families and communities, connecting evidence with rights, dignity and opportunity.

Dignity In Every Workplace

Every worker deserves respect, safety and fair treatment. We keep dignity at the centre of working life, helping people experience stronger rights, greater protection and a more secure place within the wider economy with lasting confidence.

Rights That Reach People

Rights matter when workers can understand and access them. We strengthen awareness, dialogue and practical systems that bring protection closer to everyday working realities and help people exercise their rights with greater confidence.

Evidence With Human Context

Research matters when evidence reflects real experience. We connect data with field understanding so findings can strengthen advocacy, inform better decisions and support practical responses grounded in people's everyday realities.

Opportunity Beyond Vulnerability

Lasting progress needs security, education and opportunity. We support conditions that help workers, children and families move beyond vulnerability towards more stable futures, greater confidence and the freedom to shape their own lives.

Stage 03

Work Expanded Across Rights

That journey gradually developed into a wider institutional focus covering labour rights, social justice and sustainable development, bringing different concerns affecting workers and communities into one direction.

Stage 04

FairWork Foundation Moves Forward

Today, FairWork Foundation works towards decent work, stronger social protection, inclusive policies and greater dignity for vulnerable workers and communities through research, advocacy and field based interventions.

Common Questions

Know FairWork Foundation Better

Learn more about our purpose, the people we work alongside, and the ideas that guide our approach to fairer work and stronger futures.

FairWork Foundation works to strengthen labour rights, social protection and dignity at work. Through research, advocacy and community engagement, we bring everyday worker realities closer to conversations that can influence awareness, policies and practical action.

A livelihood should offer more than an income. Workers deserve safety, respect, fair treatment and access to protections that help them face everyday life with greater security. Stronger rights can also create greater stability for their families.

We envision a fair and equitable world of work where people can earn with dignity, understand their rights and access meaningful social protection. We also believe children should have access to education and opportunities that strengthen their future.

A worker’s experience rarely ends at the workplace. Income security, safety and access to protection can directly affect education, healthcare and everyday choices within a household. Supporting fairer working conditions can therefore strengthen the wellbeing of entire families.

Our work focuses on vulnerable workers, families and communities whose lives are affected by insecure working conditions, limited protection and unequal access to opportunities. We also continue to recognise education as an important part of building stronger futures for children.

We connect research, advocacy and direct engagement with workers and communities. Listening to lived experiences helps us understand concerns more clearly, while evidence allows those concerns to become part of wider discussions around rights, protection and inclusion.

FairWork Foundation was formerly known as the Child Labour Elimination Resource Network. Over more than two decades, its understanding and work have grown to include labour rights, social justice and sustainable development while carrying forward its concern for vulnerable children and families.

Individuals, organisations and institutions who share an interest in worker dignity, labour rights, research or community development can connect with FairWork Foundation to learn more about its work and explore meaningful ways of engagement.
